Children's clothes on hangers labeled Monday to Friday with colorful drawings. Background is wood-paneled, creating an organized setting.

Getting out the door on time with little ones can sometimes feel like running a marathon—especially in the mornings before kindergarten. One of the easiest ways I’ve found to simplify our mornings is by preparing outfits for the whole week in advance. To make it fun (and keep things organized), I created clothes hangers with labels for each weekday.

And the best part? You can make them at home in just a few minutes—with my free printable to get you started!

Why Pre-Planning Clothes Works So Well

💡 Less stress in the morning – No more scrambling to find matching clothes when everyone’s in a rush.

💡 Encourages independence – Kids love knowing what they’ll wear, and it helps them get dressed by themselves.

💡 Smooth kindergarten mornings – Pre-planned outfits cut down on last-minute battles and keep routines consistent (something teachers and little ones both appreciate!).

💡 Adds excitement – My daughter actually looks forward to choosing which “day” we’re on and picking her outfit from the hanger.

What You’ll Need to Make Clothes Hangers Tag for Kids

  • Wooden or plastic hangers (one for each day of the school week)

  • Printer + paper (to print the free labels)

  • Laminator for the labels

  • Scissors

  • Hole punch

  • String or ribbon (optional, if you want to tie instead of loop over the hanger)

How to Make Your Daily Clothes Hangers

  1. Print the Labels: Download and print my free weekday hanger printable (linked below). I included a fun little illustration for each day to make it more kid-friendly or a blank template for you to DIY it all with your little one.

  2. Cut and Punch Holes: Cut out each day’s label and punch a hole at the top.

  3. Attach to Hangers: Slide the label over the hanger hook. If you prefer, you can use string or ribbon to tie them on instead.

  4. Plan Your Week: On Sunday evening, spend a few minutes with your child picking out outfits for each day and hanging them under the correct label.

Extra Tips

✨ Add socks, underwear, or hair accessories into a small bag and clip it to the hanger so everything is ready in one spot.

✨ If your child has PE or a special kindergarten activity, make a note right on the label so you don’t forget sneakers or outdoor clothes.

✨ Let your child help with the process—it gives them a sense of ownership and makes mornings smoother.
